Lifeless Birth, the pulverizing third LP from NECROT, is out today on Tankcrimes, and is streaming everywhere.

With Lifeless Birth, NECROT continues their ascent to the forefront of American aural extremity, pushing the boundaries of style and continuing to recast metal in their image. Founded by bassist/vocalist Luca Indrio and drummer Chad Gailey in 2011 with guitarist Sonny Reinhardt joining the following year, the Oakland, California trio offers Lifeless Birth as a culmination of their to-date efforts to encapsulate and push forward the deathly stylings of 2020’s Mortal and their 2017 debut, Blood Offerings.

Recorded with Grammy-winning producer Greg Wilkinson — who has helmed all three NECROT albums — and mastered by Brad Boatright at Audiosiege, Lifeless Birth pivots fluidly between technical intricacy, progressive poise, and all-out brutality. Scouring lead work will have thrash heads nodding knowingly, and an overarching groove reaches out across the metal microgenres with a righteous call to worship. Its songs are memorable and varied, unpretentious but able to rear up with statelier violence. At the same time, songs like “Drill The Skull,” “Cut The Cord,” and “The Curse” prove that just because a song is beating you into the ground doesn’t mean it can’t also be forward-thinking. Or catchy. As with prior NECROT works, Lifeless Birth features cover art by Marald Van Haasteren.

“Their sound is built on a sturdy foundation of formative influences – the punkish lurch of Autopsy, the mutant thrash of Possessed, the razor-edged erudition of Death. But after three albums of steady refinement, they’ve found their own corner to dominate.” – Decibel Magazine

“…these three men are operating on a higher level of death metal dexterity, and “Lifeless Birth” is a near-flawless expression of their militant brilliance.” – Blabbermouth

“… definitely a contender for death metal album of the year.” – MetalSucks

“…their third and most engaging record.” – Invisible Oranges

“This is steady as it comes, a full blast of death metal played with bloody fury and an emotional passion that, even while they’re peeling back your flesh, you can’t help but have a good time. NECROT survived a period that would undo most bands and delivered a devastating collection that has the band roaring back to reclaim what is theirs.” – Meat Mead Metal

“Lifeless Birth is just as punishing as the NECROT you remember. Still, their songs are catchier, more technical, and—at times—more progressive than ever. Indrio, Reinhardt, and Gailey have a knack for this death metal thing. And, again, they put out their best record after overcoming so much adversity—much respect.” — Last Rites

“…an early contender for one of the best death metal albums of the year.” — Heavy Music HQ

“Lifeless Birth is the confluence of every aspect of the band that they have worked so hard to cultivate, sharpened to a razor’s edge and poised to take no prisoners.” — Nine Circles

“The new record meets and exceeds the standard set by its predecessors. Highly recommended.” – Flying Fiddlesticks

“For their third album, NECROT have remained true to their oldschool roots. In seven compositions, Lifeless Birth offers forty minutes of devastating sound and heavy riffs that will have many aficionados shaking their heads!” — Acta Infernalis

“…a solid album and an excellent continuation and contribution to their catalog.  My advice? Obviously, check out the album when it is released on April 12th, but don’t just listen to it—experience it. If you ever get the chance to see Necrot live, take it. Their live performance is one you won’t soon forget.” — Metal Maidens
